Instituto Cervantes Milano – Milan, Italy

The new Instituto Cervantes Cultural Centre in Milan is an intervention that brings together the preservation of historic heritage and the demands of contemporary use. Located within the underground spaces of the Church of Sant’Alessandro, the project revitalises a series of Baroque rooms, preserving their architectural character while introducing new cultural functions.
To accommodate the wide range of intended uses, a bespoke collection of furniture was developed for a library, exhibition area and event space. Manufactured in blue MDF, the furniture integrates seamlessly into the existing architecture, creating a dialogue between contemporary design and the site’s historic heritage.
